The Modular Layer 2 (ML2) plugin is a community-driven framework allowing OpenStack Neutron to simultaneously utilize the variety of layer 2 networking technologies found in complex, real-world data centers. The ML2 plugin works with SDN controllers and network hardware devices, and is designed to greatly simplify adding support for new L2 networking technologies into OpenStack Neutron.
Anuta NCX provides ability to provision end-to-end L2-L7 network services on multi-vendor physical, virtual and software defined network devices. NCX ML2 plugin makes these network services available to OpenStack users by converting OpenStack Neutron requests into NCX network service APIs. NCX then orchestrates those services on the underlying physical and virtual infrastructure by transforming these network service APIs into device specific configuration requests using device models.
Anuta Networks plans to release Load Balancer as a Service (LBaaS) for OpenStack Kilo Release.
OpenStack Virtual Infrastructure Manager (VIM)
The OpenStack framework has been proven in cloud deployments to provide true multi-hypervisor flexibility. In the evolution of Network Function Virtualization (NFV), OpenStack has become a critical component as it accelerates NFV adoption. Anuta NCX supports OpenStack as VIM through northbound integration.
The combined northbound and southbound integrations with OpenStack allow the customers the flexibility to use multiple vendor, physical or virtual network functions supporting multiple hypervisor platforms and integrate with OpenStack self-service frameworks.
Anuta NCX platform orchestrates both physical and virtual appliances from various industry leading vendors. For the latest list, checkout Supported Devices.
